Deposits - Payments - Charter Terms
Chartering / Hiring of Charter Game Boat. After receipt of the information pack confirming your charter, a deposit of 25% of the total booking cost is required to secure the charter. This deposit must be received no later than 10 days after receipt of information pack. Where clients are booking more than 8 months in advance, the deposit required is 10% of the total booking cost and must be received no later than 10 days after receipt of information pack to secure the charter and a further 15% to bring the total deposit paid to 25% is required 3 months prior to charter commencement. On all charters, the balance of the charter cost is to be paid no later than 14 days prior to your charter commencement/arrival. Failure to pay any or all of the deposits and final balance of charter in the required time will be considered a cancellation of the charter and no refunds on any partial or full deposits paid will be made.
NOTE: The Captain and crew love nothing more than to be able to have the charter guests go home with a lovely, fresh load of boned and filleted Hapuka, Snapper, King Terakihi or Kingfish fillets as a bonus for a great charter aboard Reel Awesome. We care very much about conserving our fishery for this generation and generations to come therefore we have a boat policy of limiting the total take-home catch to a maximum of 200kg's of fish fillets (excluding Marlin & Tuna). We hope that is more than enough to keep the most demanding charter guest happy.

Definition of Three Kings Area: North Cape to Three Kings/Middle Sex Bank
Accommodation: Hotels / Motels / Lodges / B&B. If accommodation is provided, one night’s payment per room / unit is required as a deposit with the balance to be paid 14 days prior to your arrival.

A. Telegraphic Bank Transfer. We will send you our bank account details on request.
B. Sending a Bank Draft payable in New Zealand dollars. Bank drafts are to be made payable to Reel Awesome Charters Ltd and sent to P O Box 14261, Panmure, Auckland, New Zealand.
C. If you are domiciled in New Zealand you can pay direct to our bank. We will provide account details on request.
D. If you are domiciled in New Zealand we will accept a personal cheque.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation--Accommodation / Refund: 21 days notice must be given for any accommodation refunds. Please check with us at the time of reserving. A 10% administration fee applies at all times for any refunds. Accommodation cancelled within 21 days of your booking will result in no refund of deposit.
Cancellation-- Charter Game Boat/Bareboat or skippered Yacht Charter: If you cancel outside 8 weeks prior to your arrival and we are unable to find a charter to replace your charter there will be no refunds. If you cancel inside 8 weeks, no refunds will be given.
Cancellation—Charter Boat (not weather/mechanical) At any time before or during the charter, the skipper reserves the right to cancel the charter without notice for any reason in the interests of safety of the boat, crew and/or passengers. In this event the client will be given a full refund of the whole unused full days of the charter. No liveaboard costs can be refunded.
Cancellation-- Charter Boat / Weather and Mechanical: If the boat captain has to cancel a day or days due to the weather, you will be given the opportunity of either a full refund on the cancelled full days or moving the cancelled days to another day that suits you and the captain. If the captain has to cancel due to a mechanical problem you will also be given the opportunity of a full refund of remaining unused days or moving to another date that suits both parties. It shall remain the captain’s decision at all times to cancel any or all days with regards to weather or mechanical problems. Once the charter has started and you choose to cancel a day or days there will be no refunds. In the case of a Three Kings charter, once the charter has started and a day or days has to be cancelled due to weather and the skipper determines that the remaining days do not allow us to get to the Three Kings, the skipper will convert the remaining days to Local Area and provide a credit on the difference between Local Area and Three Kings charter. Once the charter is in progress and a day or days are cancelled by the skipper due to weather/mechanical, no refund will be given on liveaboard costs. Once the charter has commenced and a day or days are moved to another date, the charter will be re-charged for liveaboard costs for those moved days.
In the interests of both the charter guests and crew enjoying reasonable weather over their charter, Reel Awesome will endeavour to avoid where possible, back to back chartering and maintain a free period either side of your charter of at least two days. This will then provide us the ability to offer to you the ability to either delay your charter by 1 or 2 days or move forward your charter by 1 or 2 two days in order to take advantage of a better weather pattern for your trip. We highly recommend that when booking your charter dates, that you consider keeping a couple of days spare either side of your charter so as to be able to take advantage of the best weather window if so recommend.
Cancellation--Boat Provisioning: Where provisioning is done on your behalf, 48 hours notice prior to commencement of charter must be given for cancellation of any food / beverages supplied for any refunds
We also recommend you take out Travel Insurance.
